Persuasive Essay: Learn How to Make Your Arguments Strong
When you want to convince others of the validity of your points, agree with your facts, or share your values and conclusions, you write a persuasive essay. Since in the persuasive essay writing, only one side of the argument is presented, the author has to present the most powerful points.
The structure of your persuasive essay should be similar to other essays that you are to write while in college. Your persuasive essay should be divided into three major parts which are introduction, body, and conclusion. When writing an essay of this type, consider the following:
- Your topic statement should be debatable with a clear and straightforward position.
- You should be able to provide three excellent reasons that support your topic sentence or statement of position. These three reasons should also be able to stand on their own as a topic sentence for the three paragraphs that make up the body.
- You have to go into details and use specific argumentations as opposed to general arguments, statistics, figures, concrete examples to convince the readers into your position.
- To make it easy for the reader to follow your essay, you have to be able to write good transitions in between paragraphs.
- In your conclusion or closing paragraph, be sure to restate the most compelling argument that will lead your reader to take your side of the argument.
Remember that the bottom line of writing the persuasive essay is to persuade the reader to take your position. You will have to convince the reader that your point of view is exact. You can do this when you are convinced that you can write a convincing and powerful persuasive essay yourself.
